Beta 1.1 update September 28, 2026

Shown in the app as "CROSSTIA Beta 1.1 has a few updates".

Added

• WhatsApp support: a WhatsApp link in the status bar opens a chat with the CROSSTIA team (+92 326 1655599). Also on the Contact page.
• Save Project in the File menu.

Changed

• A simpler top bar: File, Canvas, View and Panels menus, then undo/redo and zoom, plus an always-visible green Export button. It's cleaner, a little thinner, and now fits laptop screens from 1280 px wide instead of scrolling sideways. The menus open on tap or click, so they work with a pen or finger.
• File menu replaces the ☰ menu: New, Open, Save Project, Import Image, Export, Branding, Getting Started, Send Feedback, Licensing and About.
• Render is a drop-down in the View menu, like the Canvas settings.
• A brighter green CROSSTIA logo, and the pattern size, colour count and stitch total at the bottom now stand out in green.
• Much smaller project files and faster undo: for example, a real project went from 8.0 MB to 3.8 MB, another from 11.0 MB to 0.6 MB, and each undo step on a large pattern is about 3× faster. Older project files open exactly as before.
• A friendlier Import window start screen, with a bigger Choose Image button and three short tips.
• A one-time hint pointing to Export once you've started a design.
• On phones, a gentle note that a laptop or tablet gives the best experience.

Removed

• The pasteboard "eye" toggle: off-canvas stitches are always visible and editable.
• The unfinished "Pad" render mode placeholder.

Added

• Import Image window: a photo-to-pattern workspace with live preview, before/after slider, zoom, pan, crop and grid. Works by touch too.
• New selection tools: Magic Wand (connected or anywhere) and Polygon Select.
• Selections work on everything you see across visible, unlocked layers (move, delete, cut, copy, mirror, rotate, change colour, move to layer, add to motifs). Tick "This layer only" for just one layer.
• Fill inside a selection fills the whole selected area.
• Change Color for a selection.
• Reference images (onion skin): per-image opacity and Convert to pattern.
• Render modes: Flat Grid and Symbols Only, plus a flat solid-colour fabric.
• Fabric: separate Fabric Type and Colour, real Aida and Evenweave textures, more colours.
• Exports: a high-resolution Mockup picture, PNG with a transparent background, clickable links in PDFs, and manual PDF page size, orientation and margins.
• Help: a Getting Started guide, context-aware Help, release notes in About, and symbol search.

• Your work is safer: a warning before closing with unsaved edits, persistent browser storage, a banner in in-app browsers (Facebook, Instagram) suggesting a real browser, and a gentle backup reminder.

• Anonymous, consent-based usage statistics (never your patterns, names or files).

Changed

• Eraser and Fill work on the layer of the stitch you click: no need to pick the layer first.
• Realistic stitches show the true thread colour, and DMC colours 01–35 were corrected.
• Clearer PDFs: backstitch measured by length, a better cover page, key and chart, and the thread list ordered most-stitched first.
• OXS export matches other cross-stitch software.
• Strand recommendations and skein estimates follow the Aida count.
• Imported images grow the canvas only as far as real stitches reach.
• A brighter 20-colour starter palette, and readable export file names.

Fixed

• The canvas could freeze in long sessions with many colours.
• Stitches past the design's left or right edge could be picked up by mistake.
• Delete, Backspace and arrow keys no longer act on the canvas while you're typing.
• Several reference-image, half-stitch, export and layout issues.

• A strict security policy on app.crosstia.com and crosstia.com, and fonts served from our own site.

The first public beta: a full pattern editor (paint, layers, shapes, undo/redo); Full, Half, Quarter and French Knot stitches plus Backstitch with Thread Guide snapping; real DMC and Anchor thread matching; 500+ symbols; photo and OXS import; PDF export in six chart layouts plus PNG, JPG and project files; and branding tools for pattern sellers.
